The LEGO Powered UP app is the digital companion to physical LEGO sets, allowing users to connect and control trains, race cars, and robots directly from their phone via Bluetooth.
At Little Studio, I worked closely with the LEGO Powered UP team to design and prototype a wide range of in-app controllers across themes including Star Wars, trains, and racing. The work involved extensive exploration to translate physical LEGO interaction into an intuitive digital control experience.
Each controller was designed as a true extension of the physical set. Every brick in the interface matches the real LEGO brick at 1:1 scale, regardless of device size. Preserving that exact scale was critical — even small deviations break the tactile illusion LEGO is known for. Achieving this required close collaboration with the development team and a shared ambition to maintain authenticity in every detail.
